Bearded ladies have been a staple of carnivals since the 1800s, but did you know that sometimes, they were actually men in disguise? Thats right, sometimes those ladies beards werent quite so impressive when you learned the truth. Back in 1853, Josephine Clofullia, a beaded lady and one of the stars of P.T. Barnums circus, was taken to court by someone who was convinced she was actually a man. She wasnt, but there were definitely some ladies who were!
