The question didn’t make sense to us at first either, but the number of times we’ve seen ballerinas dressed as bees made us curious! So, we did ask. The answer? Ballerinas have to wear fancy shoes and stay on the ground. Bees wear fuzzy stripes and fly while they dance. It’s sound logic.

Design & Details

This playful costume starts with a pullover dress made of 100% polyester. A stretchy knit panel in the back makes getting into the dress easier while ensuring extended wear is comfortable. Thoughtful layers ensure the dynamic mix of tulle, satin, and sequin knit fabrics offers full coverage and a bit of fairytale magic.

A black-and-yellow striped satin bodice and simple black underskirt provide the base of the costume. Black tulle with a yellow ribbon trimmed hem and satin peplum to match the bodice give shape to the flouncy overskirt. Meanwhile, a black knit bodice panel covered in sparkling sequins and framed by ruffled tulle trim and matching cap sleeves make the costume ready for the stage or fairy garden adventures.

Of course, the costume isn’t ready to fly without a couple of accessories. A lightweight plastic headband featuring a small crown of yellow feathers and pipe cleaner antennae with pompom tops ensures the ensemble has a wiggle and bounce with every move.

Translucent yellow nylon wings with poseable wireframes are the finishing touch. The wings feature glittery printed wing details and a charming felt bee to connect them. Elastic shoulder straps make growing steady wings easy while ensuring your kiddo is comfortable wearing the costume accessory.
